iPassepartout is one only application file working either as Full and as Lite version. If you buy the Lite version, you will be able to see/manage the content of Text files only. If you buy the Full version, you will be able to see/manage the content of Image, Song, Movie, andText files.

Some features:
• Search for content, filename, dates, kind, within filePackages...
• Read/select/copy/drag text, locate the occurrences.
• See/crop/copy/drag images.
• Play/select/copy audio files.
• Play/select/copy movie files.
• Read/display HTML and PDF documents
• See File info, Graphic Exif info and Audio ID3 info.
• Export images changing size, format, resolution, with several naming kinds, to one folder or to a "source folder tree copy".
• Extract and export icons as jpg, png, tiff bmp, gif.
• Save pathname list.
• Copy the files from the list to a different location.
• Delete the files from the disk.
• Search for all the icons embedded within the applications


Searches:
You can search the files within a given folder/disk using different criteria and options like, filename, content, creation and modification date, type & creator, invisible items, search within the filePackages... iPassepartout will list quickly all the items satisfying the search criteria. Then, even while the search is still running, you can browse the found items list and see, read, play, select, copy, drag the content of the files to other applications' documents. In a while.
More, iPPT can list all the files/folders you drag from the Finder onto the found item list. This way you can easily drag and drop a folder onto iPPT and browse the content of all the files the folder contains. iPPT will scan and list the files nested in all the subfolders too.

Browsing:
Clicking on the items of the found item list will tell iPPT to display the content of the selected file.
As mentioned earlier, iPPT allows you to manage several kinds of files like text, images, audio and movies. The basic tasks you can do on the content of the selected file, are: select and copy. Depending on the kind of the selected file (text, image, audio and movie) you will be able to perform additional tasks as playing a song or a movie, or searching again for strings within a text file.

• This version runs on MacOS X 10.4 (Tiger) or higher.
• It's a free upgrade for all the registered version 1 users.
• Added the menus "Set Visible" and "Set Invisible". Select the items in the items found list then call these commands to make those files and folders visible or invisible in the Finder.
• Added the menus "Set Creation Date" and "Set Modification Date". Select the items in the items found list then call these commands to set your custom creation date/time or modification date/time to the files and folders selected.
• Added the "Print WaterMark" feature in the Export Images procedure. You can choose an image to overprint, its position over the original image, the copy mode (copy, darker, lighter) and the transparency.

What's new in the version 1.1.0 (1st December 2003) Download this version

• Added more compatibility at displaying Microsoft Word files (.doc) in Panther. Now iPPT shows styles and font size properly.
  
• Added the menu Action: this menu groups commands working on the selected items in the items found list. More than including the functions already available through the keyboard and mouse on both the lite and full versions (Open File, Reveal File, Remove File, Delete File, Trash File), we added 3 actions more on the full version only (and we'll add more later).
  
  • "Export Images":
    lets you export at high speed and professional quality, all the images selected, with size, resolution, graphic format and files naming method chosen by the user. Also, in case of size change, the user can choose whether shrink or cut the final image, and whether enlarge or add paper (with a custom color) to the final image. iPPT can export all the images within one only destination folder chosen by the user, or it can create at the destination folder a copy of the source folders tree and save each image to the relative destination path. This way it will be so easy to export the low resolution images to an equal and parallel folders tree.
    iPPT can save the images with the same source filename or with a progressive number (adding how many zeros the user desires). It can also replace the existing files or exporting the new files with a new and uniqe file name.
    Last, in the Export Images panel, there are 4 functions returning the min and max size of all the selected images. These functions are useful, for example, to uniform all the images size to the largest image size (shrinking/enlarging the images or cutting/adding paper).
    
    
  • "Extract Icons":
    lets you extract from all the selected items, in one shot only, the largest icon available and save it as BMP, GIF, PNG, JPG, TIFF within the destination folder chosen. There is an option which lets you to skip the icons duplicated.
    
    
  • "Save Pathnames to file":
    it lets you save a text file listing all the pathnames of the files selected in the Items Found List. The user can choose to save the list with a Classic styled pathname (with the colon : delimiter like MyDisk:MyFolder:MyFile) or with an Unix styled pathname (with the slash / delimiter like: /Volumes/MyDisk/MyFolder/MyFile). This list can be used for further programming purposes (AppleScript, Perl...) or for archiving.
    
    As written above, this menu groups commands working on the selected items in the items found list. In order to select more than one item in the list, click on the row holding down the Command key. If you want the action command acts on the whole list of the items found, firstly click on the item found list and then call the menu item "Edit:Select All".
• Added the column Modification Date. You can show/hide this column by the check-Box "Show Modification Date Column" in the iPPT Preferences panel. When visible, you can sort the Items Found List by Modification Date too.
  
• The Search Folder text field on the console, now accepts drops and resolves alias folders.
  
• The Items Found List on the console, now accepts drops and resolves alias file and folders. Please note that iPPT never resolves alias nested within the folders dragged, and never resolves alias during the searches.

What's new in the 1.0.1 (1st October 2003)

• Fixed the "Cannot launch" problem caused by expanding the sit file. Now iPPT comes as stuffed file containing a dmg file. Unstuff the downloaded sit file, then double click on the ippt.dmg file. A new disk will appear on your desktop called iPassepartout 1.0.1. Drag the disk icon onto the /Applications folder icon of your boot disk in order to install iPassepartout there.
  
• Added more compatibility at reading and serching within Microsoft Word files (.doc) saved on Macintosh.
  
• The unregistered versions can now launch and reveal a selected file. To launch a file, double click on the file row of the Items Found List. To reveal a file in the Finder, simply click on the file row of the Items Found List holding down the ALT (Option) key.

 About Registration top

Paying for iPassepartout is fairly simple: through the Kagi web store (quick, easy and secure payment on-line).

• To register on the web:
Go to the web page http://order.kagi.com/?U3S
1 - Choose the product and how many copies you want.
2 - Click on the button "Continue" and the invoice form will appear.
3 - Fill the fields regarding your name, email, address, Credit-Card data then click on the button "Purchase". That's all.
If your browser supports, you can switch on SSL secure payment form (SSL is the internet international standandard secure form of payment).

• After the registration:
Kagi (the company who handles our payment processing) will send you via email the approved invoice, in max 3 days (usually in few minutes if you paid by Credit Card).
After that you will receive by us, via email, a little TextFile ("RegistrationFile.txt") to put inside the "iPassepartout" application folder (just near the application icon see how to do). This text file will unlock the shareware limitations. You don't have to rename nor open nor modify this file. It contains encrypted data.
We use to send the "RegistrationFile.txt" within 24 hours (usually in few hours), so if you haven't heard anything after 3 days, most likely you have given an Invalid Email Address. If you didn't receive the Email from Kagi, please go to the Kagi web site and get information on your order. If you received the email from Kagi but you didn't receive the email from us (with the RegistrationFile.txt) please contact us at info@softobe.com providing your alternative email address (with a different domain).

 Don't forget to include your email address in the order. If you have not got one, send your friend's email address.
We cannot accept orders without your email, because we can only send by email the "RegistrationFile.txt" (which unlocks the shareware limitations).

If paying with Credit Card or First Virtual, you can email or fax the data to Kagi. Their email address is sales@kagi.com and their fax number is +1 510 652-6589. You can either Copy the data from Register and paste into the body of an email message or you can Save the data to a file and you can attach that file to an email message. There is no need to compress the data file, it's already pretty small. If you have a fax modem, just Print the data to the Kagi fax number.
