Clicking on the items of the found item list will tell iPassepartout to display the content of the selected file.
As mentioned earlier, iPassepartout allows you to you browse on several kinds of files like text, images, audio and movies. The basic tasks you can do on the content of the selected files are: select and copy. Depending on the kind of the selected file (text, image, audio and movie) you will be able to perform additional tasks as described below.

Browsing Text:
For example, you can search all the text files containing the words
share music law within the source folder /Volumes/Softobe/Article/. This is very useful for browsing text archives like Newsgroup, Emails, Articles, Source Code,... iPassepartout will list all the text files containing the search words. If you are performing a search by content, and the search words are more than one, iPassepartout will sort the list by rank, and if the check-box Show Rank Column in the Preferences panel is marked, it will show the colum Rank in the found item list. Once you selected a file in the found items list, you can check for all the occurrences of the words (or other words you can even want to search more) within the text file, select, copy & paste o drag the text to other application's documents. Easy and fast. To locate in the text the words you used as search words, simply press Command+G or Command+D (next occurrence and previous occurrence). If you want to define other words to locate in the text, press Command+F, define the new words to search and press the button Find.
Also, you can define the current selection as the new words to search simply pressing Command+E. Then, press Command+G or Command+D in order to locate the search words in the text.

• You can choose to divide the console vertically (and/or show the filename or pathname) by the Preference panel

Browsing Images
For example, you can search all the file names containing one of the 3 words
flower gardenia rose within a given folder/disk. iPassepartout will list all the files whose filename satisfies the criteria, then you will be able to see the content of each file found, its metadata (if any) like EXIF informations, select (crop) a portion of the image, copy & paste or drag the image to other application's documents.
All the images shown in the bottom split view are dynamically resized accordying to the window sizes.
In the following sample we performed a search for all the file whose filename contains the strings (extensions)
.psd .tiff .jpg .pict .gif. Then, we clicked on the item /Volumes/Softobe/Images/Paris.tiff and then, holding down the ALT key, we selected a portion of the image.
Now we are ready to copy & paste or drag the selected image to other documents. To deselect the cropped image, simply click out of the cropped zone.

• Select/display and crop an image. Then you can drag the cropped image (or the whole image) to other applications' documents.

Drawer: the drawer view here at the right of the main window, shows more info about the selected file like size, creation, modification and backup date, type and creator, owner, group and permissions, EXIF tags for images and ID3 tags for audio files.
The Exif fields Lens and Flash don't work yet. We'll implement these fields as soon as possible.

Browsing Audio and Movie:
For example, you can search all the file names containing the extensions
.mp3 .m4a .aiff .wav within a given folder/disk. iPassepartout will list all the files whose filename satisfies the criteria, then you will be able to play/pause the content of each file found, set the volume, see its metadata (if any) like Title, Duration, Artist..., select a portion of the song/movie, copy & paste o drag the song or the movie to other application's documents. The following picture shows the result of a search within an application package (we dragged the application file iMovie onto the text field Folder in the console window). Also, as you can notice, we changed the way to split the two views to Vertical and the way the item found list display the result to fileName. This settings can be modified in the Preferences panel.
